Dry eye disease: How can artificial tears help you?

Dry eye can strongly influence your quality of life, preventing you from engaging in daily activities. If you find yourself in trouble with dry eye disease - DED, lubricant eye drops (or artificial tears) may be a first choice to relieve the symptoms. So how do these work?
